UVMC Psychiatrist Recognized for Excellence in Teaching WSU Residents
Psychiatrist Rafay Atiq, M.D., has been named a recipient of the Irma Bland Award for Excellence in Teaching Residents by the American Psychiatric Association and its Council on Medical Education and Lifelong Learning. The award recognizes Dr. Atiq’s outstanding and sustaining contributions made as a faculty member at Wright State University. The annual tribute honors Irma Bland, M.D., serving as a tribute to her unique and creative contributions to psychiatric education.
Dr. Atiq, who specializes in adult psychiatry, received his medical degree from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his residency in psychiatry at Wright State University School of Medicine, where he served as chief clinical resident. He has a faculty appointment as assistant clinical professor at Wright State.
Dr. Atiq has been on the medical staff at Upper Valley Medical Center for the past six years and serves as director of UVMC Outpatient Behavioral Services.
