February 2014 Employee of the Month
A hat’s off is appropriate for Lea Ann Stevens on her selection as the UVMC Employee of the Month for February.
Lea Ann is known for the hats she wears on holidays and other special occasions in her work in ASU and Preadmission Testing.
“Her caring plus attitude shines at 5:30 a.m. when she greets surgical patients and their families. These patients are often stressed, but Lea Ann does a great job at putting them at ease. She always puts patients first,” a coworker said.
Lea Ann was praised for a willingness to help wherever needed and the “extras” she does in the department such as posting staff birthdays and creating a special wall for Nurses’ Week.
Lea Ann joined the UVMC family in December 1982. She described her job as “wearing many hats.” She worked in the pharmacy for a short time.
Asked what she enjoys most about her job, she said, “the people I work with and the new people I meet as patients.”
When not at work, Lea Ann likes to bake, read and scrapbook. She is married to Jim and has a daughter, Tara; a son, Dusty; stepdaughters Melinda, Trisa and Jaymie; grandchildren, Nickolas and Blake; a cat, Smokey; and a dog, Sam.
