September 2012 Employee of the Month
Co-workers say Beverly Cissner comes to work armed with a smile and a “what is best for the patient” attitude.
That approach to the job by Beverly, a specimen processer at the Outpatient Lab South Building, helped lead to her selection as the September Employee of the Month. She first joined the UVMC family in September 2001.
Among her job duties are registering patients for testing, performing lab draws and specimen collections; updating testing information to physician offices; and training new lab employees. She also is preceptor for the Edison State phlebotomy program for students needing clinical setting experience.
“Beverly always has a smile and kind words for her patients … She always puts her patients first and thanks them always for coming in today,” a coworker wrote.
Beverly said she is proud people come to a UVMC lab knowing it is professional, accommodating and accurate in its results.
“I like to think that we are small town caring with big city convenience and technology,” she said. “You may not be related to us when you show up but by the time you leave you feel like family.”
Beverly and her husband, Randy, have a son, William; a daughter, Jocelyn; and a grandchild. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, crocheting, watching classic Hollywood movies and creative cooking.
