Education and Development
Upper Valley Medical Center (UVMC) is authorized as an approver and provider of continuing education in nursing by the Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN-005-92). As such, UVMC may approve continuing education programs submitted by agencies within Ohio, as well as from other states.
All UVMC Continuing Education courses are individually approved by various professional organizations. Check each course description for specific approvals. Contact hour certificates are awarded for successful completion of the individual programs. Successful completion is defined as attendance of entire program and submission of a completed evaluation form at the conclusion of the program. Individual courses may also have additional requirements for successful completion, which will be made known prior to the start of the program. Late arrivals and early departures may forfeit official continuing education certificates.
Pre-registration is required. Registration fee includes contact hours and course materials. Lunch is on your own unless otherwise indicated. Course location, unless specified otherwise, is the UVMC Main Campus in Troy, Ohio.
UVMC reserves the right to cancel any course that has not met minimum registration requirements. Registrants will be notified if a program is canceled and a full refund will be issued. If a registrant requests a refund at least 24 hours prior to the start of a program, a full refund will be issued.
UVMC offers an independent study for RNs and LPNs to meet the continuing education re-licensure requirement concerning knowledge of the laws and rules, which govern the practice of nursing in Ohio. 1.0 OBN contact hour of Category A (Information directly related to Chapter 4723 of the Ohio Revised Code) will be awarded for successful completion.
