UPPER
VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER 3130 N. Dixie Hwy., Troy, Ohio 45373 •
(937) 440-4000
The Upper Valley Medical Center opened in July of 1998. With the
goal of preserving long-term access to quality health care, this acute
care facility was designed for optimum accessibility and flexibility to
best serve the Miami County area communities' changing health care
needs.
Hundreds of
UVMC staff, physicians and community members had input on the design and
function of the hospital, which is focused on efficiency, accessibility
and patient-centered care.
The Upper
Valley Medical Center was designed with maximum convenience and comfort
for patients and families - and the efficiency and advanced medical
technology to help the UVMC caregivers maintain quality patient
care.
The design
and flow of the building and systems within make for convenient
coordination and communication between service areas and individual
caregivers, enhancing a collaborative team approach to providing patient
care.
•
Approximately 222,000 sq. ft. in size, Upper Valley Medical Center has a
total of 139 inpatient beds: 79 individual medical/surgical, 20
semi-private medical/surgical, 10 intensive care, 11 rehabilitation, and
19 maternity (labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum).
Additionally, there are 31 registered newborn
bassinets.
•
Outpatient testing areas feature easy access, streamlined processes and
spacious, comfortable waiting areas.
• Inpatient
areas feature ''universal patient rooms'' designed to accommodate any
type of patient. These individual rooms are larger than traditional
patient rooms and are equipped to provide the care necessary for all
types of patients.
• Grouped
in a ''pod'' arrangement, each patient room is in close proximity to a
nursing station.
• Each room
has a designated ''family area'' so loved ones can remain close by and
be involved in the patient's care and well-being. Additional designated
family areas are located on each floor.
• Each
medical/surgical patient room has its own nurse server which holds
enough supplies (linens, medications, etc.) for a 24-hour
period.
• The room
design emphasizes efficiency for the caregiver as well as comfort for
the patient and family members.
• Patients'
families and other visitors may dine in the attractive dining room with
outdoor patio area and relax in the courtyard garden.
• A health/medical library is available to the
public as well as UVMC
staff.
