Clinical Quality Value Analysis

Clinical quality value analysis (CQVA) is a physician-led process to address product requests and utilization, which was approved in concept in 2013 by the medical executive committees of each Premier hospital, as well as the physician leadership council. It involves development of cross-functional, cross-location, physician-led teams, in order to ensure collaborative decision making regarding product selection and use, as well as to improve patient care and to streamline and standardize the decision and approval process across all of Premier Health.

Physician-led teams will be supported by administration, operations, quality, risk management, and supply chain, in a process for devices and supplies that mimics the pharmacy and therapeutics process. The three initial teams will be cardiology/radiology, orthopedics and neurosurgery, and general surgery. The end result should be a consistent, defined, predictable process and timeline for product selection, evaluation, and implementation. Feedback and input on the draft processes will be sought from various physician-led committees and medical executive committees throughout the next few months, with a target start date of May 1, 2014.
