Teri Gulker, BSN, MA, RNC-OB, NE-BC
Teri Gulker is the Director of Women’s Services, Medical Surgical and Telemetry Units at Upper Valley Medical Center. Her responsibilities include providing direction and organization for nursing units since 2005.
Her work experience includes working for more than 20 years as a staff nurse in Labor and Delivery. She also worked as a Childbirth Educator, Resource Nurse, Manager and Recruiter. Teri is certified in In-Patient Obsteric and is a Certified Nurse Executive.
Teri received her nursing education from Springfield Community School of Nursing and her BSN from Indiana Wesleyan University. In 2003 she earned her Master of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
Lisa S. Minton, RN, BSN
Lisa Minton is the Nurse Team Manager of Women's Services at Upper Valley Medical Center and has over 20 years of healthcare experience.
Lisa has a background in military medicine. She has worked as a staff nurse in Labor and Delivery and Special Care Nursery for five years, and was previously the Clinical Nurse Educator.
She manages the 19-bed unit including 10 LDRP's, 9 postpartum rooms, 2 triage beds, a Level II nursery and one OR. She is responsible for the daily flow of patients, staff assignments, and the overall function of the unit that has a staff of over 50 specialty trained employees including, RN, LPN, PCT and HUC.
Lisa earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree with Summa Cum Laude honors from Wright State University. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau.
Jane Pierce, MSN, RNC-OB, ACNS-BC, C-EFM, LNC
Jane has over 30 years of obstetric experience. She is the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Women's & Children's Services at UVMC. She collaborates and consults with physicians and nurses in Women's & Children's Services to improve outcomes in patient care. Her role includes clinical expertise, educator, leader, researcher, and consultant influencing practice through patient care, nursing and the hospital as a system.
Jane received her nursing education from Community Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, Ohio, her BSN from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio, and her MSN from Troy University in Montgomery, Alabama.
Mary Shay, RN, MS, IBCLC
Mary is the Lactation Consultant and the Prenatal Education Coordinator at UVMC. She has 36years of experience assisting new Mothers, babies and families. Expectant and new parent education, family adjustment, along with lactation support, is one of her areas of expertise. Mary receives referrals from OB offices, pediatricians, and staff nurses. She visits Maternity inpatients, and maintains a breastfeeding support telephone line. Outpatients may see her for helpful interventions and solutions to their breastfeeding concerns. She previously has served as a Lactation Consultant, a Birth and Family Educator & Staff L & D Nurse at Miami Valley Hospital. She was a Lactation Consultant at Southview Hospital from 1999 - 2005 and she was Clinical Instructor of Nursing at Sinclair Community College 2003 – 2008. Mary earned her Diploma in Nursing from Miami valley Hospital School of Nursing in May 1978. She earned her Bachelors in Nursing from Capital University in 2001 and her Masters in Science and Management in 2005 from Indiana Wesleyan University. Mary became an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2000. She was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau in 2010.
