Tipp City Schools, Good Samaritan Hospital and UVMC Announce Athletic and Sports Medicine Sponsorship
The Tipp City Board of Education, Good Samaritan Hospital (GSH) and Upper Valley Medical Center (UVMC) today approved a 10-year agreement in which Tipp City students, faculty and staff will gain improved access to health care services.
Under the terms of the agreement, Tipp City Exempted Village Schools will receive athletic training and sports medicine services from GSH and UVMC sports medicine programs, as well as funds to support its athletic programs and health and nutrition education. This will be in exchange for naming rights at the school’s athletic field, which will be called Good Samaritan North/UVMC Athletic Complex, and other cooperative initiatives.
The agreement includes an annual $75,000 for sponsorship and will allow the school district to focus other funding on various academic and athletic programs. Sponsorship dollars will be used to make much-needed updates to facilities to ensure students are given a safe and effective environment for their athletic activities.
Tipp City Schools Superintendent John Kronour, Ph.D., said, “We are excited to be partnering with Good Samaritan and UVMC to enhance not only our sports programs, but the well-being of our school and community. Our students, faculty and staff look forward to the new level of collaboration on health education and services that this agreement will bring.”
“Good Samaritan’s mission is to build healthier communities by partnering with others that share the same commitment to health and well-being,” said Mark Shaker, president and CEO of GSH. “By working with schools such as Tipp City , we are encouraging young people to adopt more active lifestyles and make healthier choices. These are habits that they will take and use throughout their lives.”
“UVMC and our Center for Sport Medicine have had a very positive relationship with Tipp City and the schools system for many years,” added David Meckstroth, CEO of UVMC. “We are pleased to be able to take that relationship to a higher level for the benefit of the community.”
The UVMC Center for Sports Medicine is located at Hyatt Center in Tipp City , along with After Hours Family Care, outpatient surgery, physicians offices, diagnostic lab and imaging. GSH’s Sports Medicine Center is located at Good Samaritan North Health Center in Englewood , which also provides outpatient surgery, breast and cancer care, cardiac rehabilitation, diagnostic and imaging services and more.
