Mike Dunker Honored as Employee of the Year
During UVMC’s 2008 Employee Recognition Dinner held at A Learning Place in Piqua on May 7, Mike Dunker, RN, BSN, was honored as Employee of the Year, and 246 employees were recognized for continuous years of service. Dunker said he chose nursing because he wanted to help people.
"I saw nursing as a way to do this. There are many opportunities in nursing to help people."
He has been helping people at UVMC since December 2000, when Dunker became a nurse at Dettmer, to work in Adult Mental Health. The graduate of Sinclair College and Capital University said he enjoys nursing and enjoys working in mental health.
"The team I work with, the staff, they are super people to work with," said Dunker. From the staff’s perspective, Dunker is "always very caring towards co-workers and patients. He always goes above and beyond duties when it comes to teamwork and patient care. He is always willing to take on new challenges and learn new things. It’s just nice having someone to work with who always tries to make things better."
