Upper Valley Medical Center Foundation Special Events

The Upper Valley Medical Center (UVMC) Foundation holds an annual event that provides substantial funding for the Cancer Care Center. Since 2005, the John J. Dugan Memorial Reception for Cancer Care has raised a total of $185,000 to support the Cancer Care Center.

Local businessman and civic leader, John J. Dugan died Nov. 1, 2003 from complications of cancer. In honor of her husband, Jean Dugan made a gift that established the John J. Dugan Memorial Fund.

Funds raised by this event, combined with additional gifts from the UVMC Foundation and the UVMC Auxiliary made possible a dedicated CT Scan for the Cancer Care Center. Installed in February 2007, 525 scans were performed in just the first 18 months after installation.

Since 2002, the UVMC Foundation in partnership with the UVMC Cancer Care Center has held an annual cancer awareness symposium for the community. This symposium is free and open to the public. The Annual Bill and Ruth McGraw Cancer Awareness Symposium is made possible by a grant from the McGraw Family fund of the Troy Foundation and a grant from the UVMC Foundation.
