Through the efforts of the Upper Valley Medical Center (UVMC) Foundation and the generous support of our community, patient care and education programs receive additional and vital support. These programs come to the UVMC Foundation from all areas of the hospital. Hospital management works with the Foundation’s Executive Committee and recommendations are passed on to the full Foundation Board for final funding approval.
Since 1998, more than $4.2 million in various hospital projects have received funding from the UVMC Foundation. Additionally, $1.7 million in grant funding from funders such as the American Cancer Society, the Foundation for Healthy Communities, the Ohio Tobacco Prevention Foundation, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Miami County Foundation and the Troy Foundation has come to our hospital and community through the efforts of the UVMC Foundation.
One of the programs of which the UVMC Foundation is especially proud is the annual scholarship program. Since its inception in 2001, $444,179 in scholarship aide has been provided to college-age adults seeking a degree in a health related field. This program developed out of the Foundation Board’s concerns about the national and regional nursing shortage. Future nurses, therapist, pharmacists, and physicians have found support for their studies through this vital program.
