Visitors Information

Address

The Upper Valley Medical Center address is: 3130 N. County Rd. 25A, Troy, Ohio 45373. Patient mail should be addressed with the patient's name and room number.

Building Access

The primary public entrance is through the Main Lobby, which is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. All doors are locked to the outside at 10:00 p.m. except for the Emergency Department entrance. Women's Services has a specific entrance for Maternity patients, family, and visitors.

Chapel/Pastoral Care

A 24-hour Chapel is located on the Second Floor, next to Administration. Chaplains are on-call 24-hours-a-day, 7 days a week. To request a Chaplain during normal business hours, please call 440-7575. During nights and weekends, the Chaplain may be contacted through the operator.

Emergency Codes

In case of emergency, the operator will announce a specific code. Hospital personnel will direct visitors if needed.

  • Code Red: Fire
  • Code Gray: Severe weather
  • Code Yellow: Disaster

Gift Shop

Located off the Main Lobby, the Gift Shop is operated by volunteers as a UVMC Auxiliary fundraiser. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. weekdays and 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekends.

Health Sciences Library

The Health Sciences Library, located on the Lower Level, is open to the public Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or by making special arrangements with the librarian. A Health Education Center, adjacent to the Library, offers educational materials to help promote wellness and understanding about diseases.  Information is available via computer, videos, and pamphlets.

Identification Badges

All Medical Center staff and volunteers are required to wear a UVMC identification badge while on duty. Registered Nurses also wear a red "RN" tag. 

Information Desk

The Information/Reception Desk in the Main Lobby is staffed by volunteers who can direct patients and visitors, answer questions, and provide patient room and services information. In addition, the Emergency Department Information Desk is staffed 24-hours-a-day for those who come through the Emergency entrance.

Lost and Found

Inquiries regarding lost or found items should be directed to Security on the First Floor.

Parking

For the convenience of patients, their families, and visitors, Medical Center employees are asked to park only in specially designated areas. Parking designations include: 

  • Lot A: Employees
  • Lot B: Visitors
  • Lot C: Visitors; Medical Office Staff in the Physician Office Building
  • Lot D: Maternity patients, families, visitors; Medical staff, employees

Other specialty parking areas are designated with appropriate signage. Parking stickers/tags are issued to all Medical Center employees, physicians, medical office staffs, and volunteers and are to be displayed in their vehicles.

Patient Condition Information

In accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), patient condition information is released only with permission from the patient who may opt to be included or excluded from the facility directory. Requests for patient condition are referred to the unit Care Center or Nursing Resource Office. 

Public Restrooms

Public restrooms are located on all floors near the main staircase/elevator and in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Women's Services, Rehabilitation, and Second Floor family waiting rooms.

Room numbers

First Floor patient room numbers are 1000 series (Care Centers A & B, Women's Services/Maternity and Rehabilitation). Second Floor patient numbers are 2000 series (Care Centers G, H, I, J, K, & L, and Progressive Care Unit). Signs will assist visitors with room location. Please inquire at the Care Center station if additional assistance is needed.

Smoking Policy

In keeping with UVMC's commitment to providing the highest quality care and providing good health and safety, all UVMC buildings and grounds are tobacco and smoke free. We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for respecting our commitment to a healthy community.

Stairs

The main staircase is located off the Main Lobby. Stairs are also located in the middle of each wing and each end of the building.

Visiting Hours

General visiting hours are 7 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. However, each patient area has its own visiting policy with access to patients based on patient/family needs. Please check with the specific unit for the exact visiting policy for that area.
