Quality customer service is an absolute priority at UVMC. Our environment is one where people treat each other with kindness and respect. Our culture is defined by Caring Plus – UVMC’s commitment to quality, kindness and compassion for our patients, visitors and each other.
We often refer to ourselves as “the UVMC family” and are in indeed family in the greatest sense. We believe in supporting each other and those we serve with genuine warmth and caring. Excellence in the quality of our care is a given; it’s the combination of excellence and a special human touch that truly sets us apart. It begins with a Caring Plus attitude by every individual in our health system.
The purpose of the Caring Plus Customer Service program is to help define and reinforce:
- UVMC's commitment to the highest quality customer service.
- The attitudes and behaviors expected from every individual throughout UVMC.
- The culture and working environment we strive to maintain throughout our health system every day of the year.
Caring PLUS Standards
Caring Plus Standards were developed to help define and foster the Caring Plus attitude throughout all areas of the UVMC health system. Every individual plays a vital role in upholding the Standards and incorporating them into how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other. These Standards are the priorities that help ensure consistent, quality
customer service. They are a part of the basic foundation of UVMC's patient-centered approach to care.
The six Caring Plus Standards* include:
- First Impressions/Personal Interactions
- Patient Interactions
- Business Communications
- Professional Appearance
- Transport/Escort Services
- Environmental Quality
The Caring Plus logo includes a heart in the center to represent our genuine caring, compassion and concern for those we serve. The heart is made up of quadrants symbolizing the four groups we all serve: patients, visitors, physicians and fellow staffers. “Plus” refers to our commitment to excellence — the extra effort we're willing to put forth in order to assure quality as well as caring in all that we do.
