May 2009 Employee of the Month

Bobbie Fisher

Congratulations to Bobbie Fisher, Human Resources Department Secretary, for being named May Employee of the Month!  An enthusiastic greeting and a smile is what you will get when you enter the Human Resources Department at UVMC -- and the owner of that smile and greeting is Bobbie Fisher.  She said she loves meeting and helping the employees, applicants and others who stop by the HR department.  Bobbie is responsible for greeting visitors, answering the phone, helping to interpret HR policies and procedures, assisting applicants with the job application process, creating and maintaining employee files, preparing employment verifications and business correspondence and assisting with special projects, HR activities, and performing all other duties as assigned. 

Bobbie began her career at UVMC April 1995 as a Provider Services Representative for Summit Insurance.  She started out working 1½ days a week credentialing physicians and providers in the network.  That eventually led to three days a week, and in December 2003, she transferred to the position of Network Management Representative, working to recruit physicians and providers.  She eventually landed in HR at UVMC, where she has been in her current roll for the past three years. 

“We have a very talented group of people here, and I am proud to be part of the UVMC team,” Bobbie comments.  “I love working in HR and feel very fortunate to be able to touch all areas of the organization.” 

When Bobbie is not at the office, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family: husband Rich, to whom she’s been married for 21 years; daughter Jackie, 19, who attends Sinclair Community College; and son Jared, 16, a sophomore at Troy High School.  Bobbie enjoys attending Jared’s baseball games and considers herself an avid spectator sports fan.
