Lady Buccs named UVMC Center for Sports Medicine Team of the Month
The Covington Lady Buccs Golf Team is being recognized as the UVMC Center for Sports Medicine Team of the Month for September.
The team in August spearheaded a cancer research golf tournament, the Covington Eagles-Lady Buccs Pink Out, to benefit the Stefanie Spielman Fund For Breast Cancer Research at the OSU James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Center.
The first-year fund raiser brought in approximately $1,200.
“The girls golf team and coach went above and beyond the sport in an effort to assist the search for a cure for cancer,” Roger Craft, Covington schools athletic director, said in nominating the team.
Coached by Ron Schultz, the varsity girls’ team includes Chloe Shell, Myranda Kelly, Connor Schaffer, Jamie Crowell, Cassie Angle, Sarah Westfall, Nicole Henson and Katie Blair.
