October 2009 Employee of the Month

Co-workers say Karla Kuhn brings both a Caring Plus and a positive attitude to every situation she faces as care team associate for Surgical Services/PAT.  For her efforts, Karla is being recognized as the Employee of the Month for October.

Karla joined the UVMC team in November 2006, starting in Outpatient and ER registration.   She then transferred to a job at Hyatt Family Care before returning to UVMC in May 2008 as a care team associate for surgical services.

She works at the front desk of the surgical waiting area and is cross training to fill in as a surgery scheduler.
 
“She is always very pleasant and considerate toward coworkers, patients, visitors and physicians.  She is eager to help and goes out of her way to do so,” a co-worker said. 

“Karla is very informative and reassuring to visitors who approach her with concerns regarding their loved one’s surgery and their present location (pre, post or in surgery).”

Her extra care in keeping paperwork, schedules and medical records detailed and organized plays a big role in keeping the department running smoothly, a co-worker said.

“I love the interaction with patients, their families. I also enjoy working closely to a great and very dedicated group of volunteers,” Karla said.

When she’s not at work, Karla enjoys spending time with family including husband, Aaron, and their son, Mason, 11. The Kuhns reside in Piqua.
