Milton-Union Girls’ Varsity Tennis Team is UVMC Team of the Month
The Milton-Union High School girls’ varsity tennis team is being recognized as the UVMC Center for Sports Medicine Team of the Month for October 2009.
The team ended the season with a 14-4 record and finished third in the Southwestern Buckeye League.
The team won the Schroeder Tennis Center Invitational from among eight teams. Sabrina Liese in third singles and Laura Allen and Lindsay Brumbaugh in second doubles won individual titles in that tournament.
Junior Sally Trout this season set the school record for wins at first singles. Trout and Andrea Fetters qualified for district as a doubles team.
“This team has done an excellent job of setting goals and working together to achieve those goals. They have also adapted well to the unique situation of having an exchange student (Liese, from Germany) earn a varsity position,” said Tom Koogler, Milton-Union schools’ athletic director.
Team members are seniors Laura Allen, Lindsay Brumbaugh and Lyndsay Stine; juniors, Sarah Baltes, Michelle Falb, Katie Herald, Grace Jackson, Sabrina Liese, Kara Puterbaugh, and Sally Trout; and sophomores, Kristin Dohner, Andrea Fetters, Jessie Finfrock, Molly Lorton and Emma Swigart.
They are coached by Sharon Paul, head coach, and Summer Kowal, junior varsity coach.
