Heart Month Events Planned by UVMC
Upper Valley Medical Center is inviting the community to learn more about what’s going on inside their bodies with free screenings and information during the Heart Month event scheduled for Feb. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Activities will be held in the hospital lower level classrooms. No appointment is necessary for the free blood pressure testing and finger stick screening for cholesterol and blood sugar numbers.
UVMC programs and cardiology offices will provide other health testing and/or helpful information during the event.
Jean Heath, director over the UVMC cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, said the screenings are one of several measures people can take to ensure they have a healthy heart.
“Cholesterol screenings and all the things we do to keep ourselves healthy promote a healthy heart,” Heath said.
Among elements of a healthy heart are a healthy diet, exercise and management of stress and one’s weight, cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar. “It is all of our lifestyles taken as a whole, not just one aspect,” Heath said.
Health month tests also will be offered 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 9 at Springmeade Retirement Community, 4375 S. County Road 25A, Tipp City. The screenings are not meant to take the place of a physician’s monitoring of your health.
