UVMC Hosts Diabetes Awareness Symposium November 4th

UVMC will present a free health symposium, “The Diabetes Epidemic: What You Need to Know About Prevention & Management,” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Crystal Room, 845 W. Market St., Troy.
Registration, refreshments and free health screenings will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., the program and question and answer panel from 6-7 p.m. and door prize drawings at 7 p.m.
Scott Swabb, D.O., an internal medicine specialist, will be the keynote speaker.
His presentation will be followed by the panel question and answer session. Panel members will include Dr. Swabb; Cass Cullis, M.D., cardiologist; Sayed Ali, M.D., nephrologist; Janis Winner, RN, Certified Diabetes Educator; and Diane Birchfield, RD, LD, Clinical Dietitian.
The evening’s host/moderator will be Barbara Evert, M.D., UVMC VP & Chief Medical Officer.
The evening will offer important information about diabetes, diabetes-friendly refreshments and health and wellness handouts.
