December 2010 Employee of the Month
Chris Capparelli’s approach to his job of going above and beyond in dealings with patients and coworkers helped lead to his selection as the December 2010 Employee of the Month.
Employed by UVMC since 2001, he is a lead nuclear medicine technologist. He helps in the diagnosis of specific diseases by preparing and administering radioactive isotopes for therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
Chris also works directly with cardiologists and radiologists to improve image quality. He serves on the radiation safety committee and as clinical supervisor for nuclear medicine students from The University of Findlay.
Those who nominated Chris said he does an “amazing job” of making his patients feel comfortable and appreciated and always is willing to help a co-worker.
“Everything about Chris says Caring Plus. He is very patient oriented, gives a positive first impression, has eye contact and a professional attitude,” one wrote. “He is just as caring plus with visitors, physicians and other staff. If you look up the words caring plus in the dictionary, you should find his picture.”
Chris said he loves that his job is very challenging.
“I work with cutting edge technology and I work with a great group of people,” he said.
“Every day is different. There is great chemistry throughout the imaging department. I have the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life.”
When not at work, Chris said he enjoys playing softball, biking. running, reading, golfing and spending time with his wife, Mandy, and dog, Gus.
