February 2011 Employee of the Month

February 2011 EOMHyacinth Amin Townsend’s positive attitude and “small kindnesses” are among attributes that led to her selection as Employee of the Month for February.

Hyacinth, a PCT II, has worked at UVMC since September 1981.  Among her tasks are patient care and phlebotomy.  She also serves as a preceptor for new PCTs.

The person who nominated Hyacinth said she exudes Caring Plus with her first impressions/personal interactions and patient interactions, noting, “I don’t work directly with Hyacinth, but I have witnessed her interactions with patients and families on night shift.  She is calm, gentle and compassionate,” the nominator said.  “She approaches her job with a positive attitude and delivers many small kindnesses.”

While doing her job, Hyacinth is willing to take that extra step and “wows the patient on her own,” the nominator added.

Hyacinth said she considers herself a positive person.  “I just love people,” she said.

“I am also glad to be a part of the UVMC team all of these years.  I enjoy helping people and get even more excited when they get well,” Hyacinth said.

When not at work, she likes to exercise, read a variety of books and listen to religious music.
