September 2011 Employee of the Month

Barb Reiss, who coworkers say has a “huge heart” and strives to create a good environment for patients and fellow employees, is the September 2011 Employee of the Month.

Barb is an X-ray technician for Upper Valley Orthopaedics, where she has worked since 2000. She takes X-rays and helps in patient care with tasks such as removing casts and patient interviews.

“Barb is a natural with patient interactions. She can make a patient smile and feel at ease within minutes of talking to them,” the person who nominated Barb wrote. She was complimented for her positive outlook, willingness to work with patients and their families, her patient care and her interaction with coworkers.

“Barb has such a huge heart and it shows in everything she does. She is a team player and will jump in and do whatever needs to be done,” the nominator said.

“I greatly enjoy the people that I work with and the patients that I meet,” Barb said. “The people and doctors in this office make my job a joy and are more like a family than coworkers.”

When not at work, Barb likes to spend time with family, play guitar with a contemporary music ensemble at church and go to the Columbus Zoo to watch the gorillas.
