January 2012 Employee of the Month
Amie Hurst, described by a co-worker as “a shining example (of) positive interactions with each other and with our patients,” is being recognized as the January Employee of the Month.
Amie, a UVMC employee since May 2009, has worked as a processor and phlebotomist in the Lab. She now supervises phlebotomists and processors at the hospital and outreach locations and supervises the outpatient testing lab.
“She works diligently to encourage and often compliments her team when they perform with excellence. She is compassionate with patients, family members and co-workers, always seeking to do the best for all involved,” one of those nominating Amie wrote “She balances getting the job done with a fun, positive demeanor, which helps her staff cope with very busy schedules.”
Amie said she enjoys the interaction with people her job allows along with helping the team and working on issues. “I love multi-tasking and solving problems,” she said.
When not at work, Amie enjoys participating in marathons and spending time with family, including husband, Scott, and sons ages 12 and 13. She also is working on her MBA.
