February 2012 Employee of the Month
Kimberly Muhlenkamp’s ability to interact effectively with patients and coworkers was cited in her selection as the Employee of the Month for February.
Kim joined the UVMC family in July 2007. She is a physical therapist assistant at the Outpatient Care Center-South.
In her job, she develops and administers patient treatments according to the plan of care established by a physical therapist. She provides hands on care to patients and progress treatment as necessary and participates in case management with the therapist, communicating patient changes as needed.
“Kim is very kind. She welcomes you to her department with a smile. She listens to you, the patient, and will do whatever she can to help you with therapy,” the person who nominated Kim wrote. “By the time your therapy is complete, you feel like family. She is great!”
In a nomination, Kim was praised for dealing well with change, helping others accept change, communicating issues with a positive attitude and having a caring, compassionate nature.
Kim said she enjoys providing education to people so they can improve their function, mobility and strength while also reducing pain and discomfort many patients experience. “I also enjoy working with various conditions, diagnoses … and the many different people I treat. It gives me great satisfaction when I see people improving through PT,” she said.
When not at work, Kim enjoys spending time with family and friends, camping, shopping and cheering on the OSU Buckeyes. Kim is married to Brad. They have a son, Jacob.
