March 2012 Employee of the Month

Edna Ward’s positive approach to her work and coworkers helped lead to her selection as the UVMC Employee of the Month for March.

Edna, a laundry aide with Joint Hospital Services, joined the UVMC family in June 1991.

She initially worked as an environmental aide at Piqua Memorial Medical Center before transferring to Joint Hospital Services in 1996.  Among her tasks, she works in the soil sort area and in the pack room hand folding surgical linens and surgeon gowns.

“Edna always greets everyone with a smile,” wrote the person who nominated Edna. “She goes above and beyond what is expected of her … A top-notch employee!”

Edna said she gets satisfaction from knowing she has helped a coworker and helping her work team wherever she is needed.

“I feel very fortunate to be part of the caring and dedicated UVMC family,” Edna said. “I really enjoy my job and those that I work with.”

When not at work, Edna said she enjoys spending time with Ralph, her husband of 43 years, and her family; surfing the Internet; reading; and relaxing in her infrared sauna.
