June 2012 Employee of the Month

Diana Shellenberger, who has more than three decades of “being a part of the miracle of birth” while working in Women’s Services, is the UVMC Employee of the Month for June.

“Diana is very professional in her job role. She always seems very happy and personable to patients and treats all very well,” the person who nominated Diana wrote.

She joined the UVMC system in 1972 at Dettmer Hospital before moving to Piqua Memorial Medical Center and UVMC.  She worked on the medical floor, ICU, surgical floor and served as head nurse in recovery before after six years with the hospitals, moving to OB.

She works as the night time charge nurse triaging patients, helping in labor and delivery, caring for mothers and their babies and helping the special care nursery. After 34 years in OB. “I have had the privilege of taking care of patients that I was there when they were born. What fun. I think I can say I have found my niche,” she said.

When not at work, Diana enjoys cooking, scrapbooking, sewing, traveling and spending time with her three adult children and three grandchildren.
