July 2012 Employee of the Month

Jessica Cecil’s quick and ready smile and good listening skills are among reasons she was selected as the UVMC Employee of the Month for July.

Jessica joined UVMC in December 2008 working as a phlebotomist. She now works as a specimen processor for the Lab with duties at the Stanfield Lab and at the hospital lab.  Jessica is trained in the department call center and registration and fills in at all outreach locations as needed.

The person who nominated Jessica described her as knowledgeable, efficient and professional – someone who does not get flustered during busy times.

“Jessica does a great job explaining the lab process to new patients or those who have not been a patient at our out reach facilities before,” the nominator wrote.  “She has such a quick and ready smile that you can’t help but feel good after interacting with her.”

Jessica said she enjoys the patient interaction.

“So many people hate getting their blood drawn or have had a bad experience. It is always a joy to hear ‘That is it? That didn’t even hurt!’ It is nice having the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life.”

When not at work, Jessica enjoys photography and spending time with her husband, Terry, and their son, Tyler.
