November 2012 Employee of the Month
Although Beth Perkins works in the busy Emergency Department, she has a way of making people feel right at home.
Beth, a clinical nurse in the ED, was complimented for her actions in an email from an out of state patient seen at the ED following a hand injury. “My only disappointment was I couldn’t stay longer,” the patient wrote following the care.
The patient said the experience he had at UVMC “reminds me why I have been a firefighter/EMT and now am returning to school for my nursing degree.”
Beth worked in med/surg telemetry for about one year before she became an ED staff nurse.
“Every day is different. You never know what is going to come in the door. There is never a dull moment,” she said.
“This allows me to utilize my nursing skills. It is always such a blessing to be able to help someone feel better. I also am lucky to work with the best nurses, PCTs, HUCs, ED scheduler, manager, housekeepers and doctors,” Beth said, adding she shares the Employee of the Month honor with co-workers.
When not at work, Beth said enjoys being at home with family and,, during the warm months, enjoys swimming and working in the yard.
