February 2013 Employee of the Month

Diane Shaw’s focus on the patient and a willingness to take an extra step when in the patient’s best interest helped earn her recognition as the UVMC Employee of the Month for February.

Diane is a physical therapist in the hospital Rehab Department. She joined the UVMC family in 2004 and worked previously for more than 18 years for Mercy Health in Cincinnati. Her duties include evaluating and treating physical impairments, activity limitations and disabilities in acute and rehab patients. She said her goal is to help each minimize his or her functional mobility and independence.

Those who nominated Diane said it is not unusual for patients to comment on her care. “Diane interacts well with all patient types and really involves them and their families in the treatment plan,” they wrote.

 “I work with a group of therapists and rehab personnel who are wonderful, knowledgeable professionals who epitomize teamwork,” Diane said.

When not at work, Diane enjoys church activities, volunteering, attending college basketball games, traveling, scrapbooking and experiencing life with family and friends.
