Darke County native excited to return to his roots of primary care

COVINGTON, Ohio (January 16, 2014)Dr. Guillermo (Bill) Trevino, MD, will join Covington Family Care in Covington this January bringing him back close to his hometown of Bradford.

Dr. Trevino said his new position as a primary care physician at the Premier Physician Network practice will enable him to get back to outpatient medicine where he can establish long-term relationships and play an integral part in preventive medicine.

“I am going back to the roots of why I became a doctor in the first place and that was to establish relationships with people and to do preventive medicine in an effort to keep people out of the hospital and healthy,” Dr. Trevino said.

A Bradford native, Dr. Trevino graduated from Wright State University and earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus.  He practiced in hospitalist medicine at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney, and most recently was director of the hospitalist program at Wayne Healthcare, Greenville.

Dr. Trevino said his work as a hospitalist has given him a new perspective on preventive care and will direct the way he cares for his patients. “As a hospitalist, there were a lot of things I saw that could have been avoided if they had the proper primary care experience,” he said.

Dr. Trevino said although he and his wife, Patches, spent nearly a decade in Columbus, their hearts always remained tied to their hometown area.  He said he enjoys practicing in a small community and believes one of his strengths is his ability to be personable and real with patients and the enjoyment he finds in seeing patients outside of the office.

Dr. Trevino and Patches have five sons ranging in age from 18 months to 12 years old. He finds that much of his community involvement revolves around his family, as he often is found coaching one or more of his sons’ athletic teams.  The family also is very active in their local church.

Dr. Trevino is already accepting new patients at his office, which is located at 2600 Mote Drive, Covington, OH or by calling (937) 473-3025. To learn more about Covington Family Care visit www.covfamcare.com.
